General Sessions: - Morning session with Dr. Michael Bitz of Columbia University - Town hall with Americans for the Arts and California Alliance for Arts Education - Wrap up session focusing on recession strategies
Breakout Sessions: (Topics under consideration) - Effective arts curriculum developed for classroom teachers - Arts Partners: Strategies for ongoing work in the present economy - Accessing the possibilities of arts resources on the net, and setting up Wikis - The multiple roles of assessment for arts education & de-bunking the myths of arts assessment - Arts revolution and the notion of education as citizenship versus education as achievement - Strategies for administrators and arts partners for communicating the importance of arts programs, especially in these times
Participants will... Leave the Summit with tools for implementing successful arts education strategies in the context of our current educational landscape; form networks and collaborations; gain use of technology and the possibilities it offers; and access curriculum and assessment techniques already developed by districts, counties, and arts partners. |
